RPCC is Victorious!
On December 18, 2008, the CPUC voted 4-1 to build the Sunrise Powerlink over a
"Southern Route," with the beginning point at the Imperial Valley
substation and the ending point at the Sycamore Canyon substation, just
south of Poway. The CPUC adopted RPCC's arguments that assuming the
transmission line is built, it should stop short of running through
Coastal suburban San Diego, including Rancho Penasquitos. While it is
unfortunate that the line is going to be built at all, the ruling is a
complete victory for RPCC and the arguments RPCC set forth during three
years of fighting with SDG&E.
To all of you who contributed money... we could not have done this without
you! For all of you who contributed time, RPCC thanks you.
Please let this be a testament that communities/people who come together
can make a difference, even in the appearance of overwhelming odds and far
more powerful foes. RPCC especially wants to thank the RPCC Directors, past
and present, who worked so hard to put this opposition together.
